XIII Todos Santos
Arts Festival
February 2009

The “Todos Santos Arts Festival” is an independent and multidisciplinary event that was created in 1998 as an answer to the demands of the people of Todos Santos, due to the traditionally historic artistic vocation of this community.

The festival’s most important function is to promote artistic creation and culture in Baja California Sur, helping to preserve, develop and consolidate Mexican culture in a town that is particularly exposed to cultural mixing; perhaps this is why it has become a powerful attraction for national and international tourists.

The Festival presents activities of dance, theatre, music, cinema, literature, art, crafts and popular culture, of recognized creators from our state, as well as international artists.

The exhibit and sale of art and regional crafts at the Public Plaza during the first two days of the festival is of special interest.

The Todos Santos Arts Festival is held in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico, in the month of February. It is a weeklong festival, always presented from Saturday to Saturday, during the week that includes the 5th. of February. This date celebrates the Anniversary of the Manuel  Márquez de León Theatre, the main venue of this festival.

Other venues where activities take place are the Prof. Néstor Agúndez Cultural Centre and the Public Plaza, as well as in several cultural spaces of the community.

The festival is organized by the Organizing Committee of the Todos Santos Arts Festival, the Festival Coordinators of  the Delegation of Todos Santos, the Manuel Márquez de León Theatre Trust C.A. and has got the support of the Southcalifornian Institute of Culture of the Government of the State of Baja California Sur, of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of La Paz, the Municipal Delegation of Todos Santos, the Autonomous University of B.C.S. and  CONACULTA, as well as other public and private institutions, among them  the Salas Group and Hotel California.
